Cervical Cancer Awareness Program

Good health begins with awareness, and prevention is the most effective way to protect future generations. With this vision, Swachetna Foundation, in collaboration with Murali Krishna Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Shirur, Pune, organized a Cervical Cancer Awareness Program to educate adolescent girls about cervical cancer, its prevention, and the importance of maintaining good reproductive health.

The awareness session was conducted on 29th June 2026 at Jivan Vikas Mandir Madhyamik Vibhag, Shirur, Pune , with the objective of empowering school girls through accurate medical knowledge and preventive healthcare education.

Empowering Girls Through Health Education

The session was led by our volunteer r. Bhagyashree Patil , who guided students on various aspects of cervical cancer, including its causes, risk factors, early warning signs, symptoms, and preventive measures. The interactive session also highlighted the importance of personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular medical consultations in reducing the risk of cervical cancer.

By providing scientifically accurate and age-appropriate information, the program encouraged students to become more aware of their health and make informed decisions for their future.

Promoting Prevention Through HPV Vaccination

One of the key highlights of the awareness program was educating students about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer. The session also explained the Government of India's initiatives to promote HPV vaccination and emphasized that timely vaccination, combined with proper hygiene and regular health check-ups, can significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer.

The program reinforced the message that while cervical cancer is a serious health concern, it is largely preventable through awareness, early intervention, and preventive healthcare practices.
