Swachetna Foundation organized a Skill Empowerment Program at C. R. Rangnathan School of Mute & Deaf, Tingare Nagar, Pune, with the objective of creating sustainable earning opportunities for specially abled students through skill-based activities.
As part of the initiative, the Foundation provided over 1,000 clay lamps (diyas) for students to paint and included them in the preparation of Diwali Lakshmi Pujan Hampers. The activity allowed the students to showcase their creativity while earning an income through their work.
The program was conducted under the coordination of Nilisha, who successfully organized the initiative. During the event, Principal Mr. Bhosale, Mr. Rishikesh, and Sangeeta Madam requested guidance on lamp painting techniques so that more students could participate in future projects.
Responding to this request, the Foundation's Senior Social Worker conducted a practical training session, teaching students the techniques of colouring and decorating clay lamps. The students enthusiastically participated in the training and demonstrated excellent artistic skills.
To recognize their efforts, Swachetna Foundation provided ₹5,000 as lamp painting charges, ensuring that the students received fair compensation for their work. The Foundation has also committed to providing similar work opportunities in the future, helping these students develop a regular source of income and become more financially independent.
Through this initiative, Swachetna Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to skill development, financial empowerment, inclusive education, and creating equal opportunities for specially abled students.
